Jimenez Julien, the builder and caretaker of WhiskerRefill
He writes the code, answers the demo requests, and sits on the onboarding calls where a practice manager explains why the fax tray still exists.
How the product started
The first version of WhiskerRefill was a spreadsheet built for a two doctor hospital in the Midwest that had lost track of its heartworm season. Their inventory lead had a shelf full of preventive that would short date before it moved, and their front desk was fielding authorization faxes from three home delivery pharmacies. Nobody in the building could answer a simple question: which patients run out of medication in the next two weeks. That question is the whole product. Everything WhiskerRefill does since then is an attempt to answer it faster, more accurately, and for more drug forms.
Julien spent the following months on the phone with practice managers rather than with veterinarians, because the practice manager is the person who feels the leak. They described the same day over and over: a client calls at 4:40 PM asking for a refill on a drug the clinic dispensed eight months ago, the technician pulls the chart, the annual exam has lapsed, the doctor is in a dental, and the call ends with a promise to call back. Multiply that by fifteen a week and you have a job nobody was hired to do. The software exists so that the call happens in the other direction, eleven days earlier, with the chart facts already attached.
He learned three things about this trade quickly. First, veterinary teams are far better at medicine than at chasing money, and they are rightly uncomfortable when a tool pushes them to sell. That is why WhiskerRefill sends a reminder about a lapse in care, not a discount code. Second, dose math is genuinely hard: a compounded suspension, a split tablet, a transdermal gel and a monthly chew all count down differently, and a tool that gets that wrong loses trust in the first week. Third, the front desk will not adopt a second inbox. If the queue is not the one place refills live, it becomes another window nobody opens.
Experience and expertise
Julien has spent more than a decade building small, focused business software, most of it for operators who work with their hands and their phones rather than at a desk. Before WhiskerRefill he worked on scheduling and follow up systems for field service and clinical teams, which is where he first learned to respect the difference between a reminder that helps and a reminder that irritates. He handles the product design, the data mapping work for each practice management system, the reminder delivery infrastructure and the support inbox himself.
- Direct onboarding work with 168 independent clinics across 31 states, from single doctor practices to twelve location groups.
- Data mapping experience with Cornerstone, AVImark, ezyVet, Covetrus Pulse and IDEXX Neo exports, plus plain CSV feeds from older systems.
- Dose interval modeling for preventives, thyroid medication, cardiac and seizure drugs, insulin, and compounded suspensions.
- Reminder delivery design covering quiet hours, per household frequency caps, and consent handling under US messaging rules.
- Reporting design used in monthly doctor meetings, built with practice managers rather than for them.
How this product is built and maintained
WhiskerRefill ships small changes weekly and larger ones on a monthly cycle. Every change that touches dose math is checked against a fixture set of real prescription patterns supplied by consenting clinics, with patient identifiers removed, because an off by one on a run out date is worse than no reminder at all. Nothing is released on a Friday, and no feature ships without a written note explaining what it changes for the person working the queue.
The editorial standard on this site is simple: every number published here comes from platform reporting or from a clinic that agreed to be named, and if a figure cannot be traced to either, it does not go on the page. The three testimonials are real customers who reviewed and approved their own quotes. Pricing on this site is the pricing you will be charged, with no hidden setup fee and no per user surcharge. When a claim stops being true, it is removed rather than softened.
Support is not outsourced. Requests sent through the form on the home page reach Julien directly and are answered inside one business day, usually the same afternoon in US morning hours. He is accountable for uptime, for the accuracy of the dose clocks, for the security of clinic data, and for saying no to features that would make the queue heavier for a technician who has ninety seconds between appointments.

The fastest way to reach him is email, and it is the same address that receives the form on the home page. If you are a practice manager with a workflow that WhiskerRefill handles badly, that message is more useful than any feature request, and it will get a reply.
